time

I try to be quick on the computer, but somehow it always takes me longer than I want it to. My sister asked me a question through her blog and I thought I would answer. I really enjoy reading her blog and it makes me want to be a more consistent "blogger"!
She asked what I'll do when my kid(s) are grown and what would keep me from doing it sooner? Most of all I want to sing, I'd love to record my own album of songs I've written. This is definitely something I can and will do even when my kid(s) are young. I really need to start writing and learn how to put my words to music. Thankfully, my husband is a songwriter and musician and he will play a big part in my endeavors.

Doula in Action!

It's been so long since I've posted on this blog. But I thought that I would take the time today!
I've now been present at 2 births and both experiences were just amazing! I'm looking forward to earning my certification and practicing as a doula as often as possible. If you know of anyone who is having a baby, please refer them to me. I would love to be with them at their baby's birth!

My Background

My name is Cory Cody I live in Kansas City, MO with my husband Matt and our daughter Natalie. I was born and raised in Ohio and moved to Kansas City in January of 2001 to earn my college degree. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Ministry from Calvary Bible College in Belton, MO. It was there I met my husband and we were married on August 24, 2002. Our daughter Natalie was born June 1, 2005.

For the past 3 years I’ve been working in childcare, first in an infant class at a daycare and most recently have supervised the Parent’s Day Out program at my church. I really love children, especially babies. Becoming a Doula is very exciting to me because I get to be a part of one of the greatest (if not the greatest) miracle we as human beings are capable of experiencing and that is the amazing event of childbirth!

Part of my background is in patient care; I really love to help and care for people. I believe women giving birth need a lot of care and support throughout childbirth in order to have the most positive experience possible. It is my hope to be a support person to the Mother and her partner through pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Doula in Training

I'm on a new adventure! Over the past few weeks I've been reading, studying and training to be a Doula. How exciting to learn how to support and be available to women experiencing one of the greatest joys in life!
